Our work brings prevention education, awareness, advocacy, community involvement, and practical resource connection together so people can find trusted organizations and services that meet their needs.
WHAT WE’RE DOING NOW
Active in the work that brings communities together.
Resource connection is only part of what we do. Safe Steps Alabama Community Connections also participates in community projects, awareness efforts, educational initiatives, collaborations, and events that bring people together and promote safer, stronger communities.
RECEIVING ORGANIZATION NEEDED
Jake’s Warmth Annual Blanket Drive
An annual winter drive founded and organized by Priscilla Boyles in memory of her son, Jake Boyles. Blankets, coats, gloves, hats, and scarves will be collected as dates and drop-off locations are determined.
Safe Steps is proud to support, promote, and facilitate this community collection effort. A receiving organization is needed to accept the collected winter items after the drive and help distribute them to individuals or families in need.
Safe Steps has gathered youth and children’s programs into an easier-to-use directory to help families discover opportunities in North Alabama.
The directory currently includes programs in Limestone, Madison, Lauderdale, and Morgan counties, with direct links to original program sources and careful cost labels.
Education, public awareness, community conversations, advocacy, and resource sharing bring attention to violence and safety issues affecting individuals, families, and communities.
This work addresses violence prevention broadly and evolves as community awareness topics and advocacy efforts change.
Showing up, listening, and building stronger communities.
